Camino Day Eleven

Saturday, June 2, 2012
Tosantos to Ages
20.5 km (12.7 miles)

Morning picture in Tosantos. Another leisurely morning getting out of the albergue.

Rachel and Bridget (from Ireland)

Caroline (from Belgium), with whom we made supper several nights.

Adam

Part of my lunch--I had candied almonds, a little bag of olives, ice cream, and two beers. Believe me, I crashed when we got to the albergue that afternoon.

When we arrived in San Juan de Ortega, which our book indicated had a population of twenty (yes, twenty), we saw about 100 people as soon as we emerged from the woods. Then more and more. Turns out it was the festival day of who else but San Juan de Ortega! There was a procession of, well, just about everyone who was in attendance, with people holding banners and these posts with bouquets of flowers at the top. There were all sorts of vendors selling "fair food," and various cheap items.

Pilgrims grabbing some shade, watching the spectacle of the festival
